Hi, I’m Eleanor. Welcome to my little corner of the internet, where I share all my favorite recipes and lifestyle tips.Â
I launched Eleanor’s Dish a few years back from my college apartment, during a period when I was in the midst of self-discovery, delving into realms such as cooking and healthy living.
This platform is dedicated to providing straightforward wellness advice and easy-to-follow recipes, all with the primary aim of helping people lead healthier, happier lives.
So whether you’re looking for comforting weeknight meals, quick and easy recipes, or a sprinkle of some wisdom, Eleanor’s Dish has something for you.
I graduated from the University of Toledo with a degree in Chemical Engineering and a minor in Chemistry. Since then, I have worked (and still currently working) in the engineering field.
My love for cooking sparked at the tender age of 5, all thanks to a toy cooking set gifted by my dad. Ever since, I've been deeply fascinated by the process of transforming raw materials (ingredients) into finished products (delicious food). This is partly why I chose and enjoy chemical engineering.
I became a certified life coach due to my deep-seated passion for helping others find balance and joy in their lives. I believe that by sharing insights and guiding people through their challenges, we can all lead more fulfilling lives.
Eleanor’s Dish was officially born in 2020, although its roots stretch back to 2017, starting under a different name and web address. It was my passion for cooking and a heartfelt desire to inspire others that sparked this journey.
My college years were a significant time for growth, especially in understanding my eating habits. Eleanor’s Dish became my space to document my food journey, sharing the recipes I was trying out in my own kitchen. It was also during this time that I became aware of some food sensitivities and started to learn more about taking better care of my health. This led me to adopt a predominantly plant-based lifestyle, which I maintain 98% of the time—though, thanks to my husband, there’s a 2% wiggle room for animal products.
Cooking, for me, isn’t just about the act of making food; it’s about the conversations and relationships that blossom during meal preparation. That’s why Eleanor’s Dish isn’t just about sharing recipes. I’m equally passionate about offering life advice. Eleanor’s Dish is my way to share my love for food, my journey to better health, and all the wonderful interactions that make life so full.
While the project began earlier, it wasn’t until 2023 really that I started to take Eleanor’s Dish more seriously and not make it a hobby blog. This renewed focus has allowed me to dive deeper into creating content, engaging with my audience, and sharing my journey with an even greater sense of purpose and passion.
On Eleanor’s Dish, you can look forward to a variety of content. I share my top recipes that have been tried, tested, and loved in my own kitchen, along with wellness tips for a healthier lifestyle. You’ll also find relationship advice drawn from the discussions on my podcast, and thoughtful articles on mindful living.Â
Growing up, my parents employed personal chefs, so I learned a lot just by watching them. Plus, my mom owned a bakery, so I got to learn all about baking.
However, the true cooking adventure began in college when I started cooking for myself. I finally had the chance to put the wealth of cooking knowledge I gained to the test, and create new recipes.
Yes, I do. I’ve loved photography for as long as I can remember. I also took a photography class in college which taught me so many shooting concepts as well as editing.
You might wonder what chemical engineering has to do with cooking and lifestyle advice. Well, it’s actually pretty handy! It helps me understand the cool science behind cooking/baking, like why foods change color when they cook or how bread rises. This lets me share recipes that really work. Plus, my science background means I can give tips that make sense. And when it comes to relationship advice or talking about living mindfully, aside from the fact that I’m a certified life coach, my problem-solving skills from engineering help me break things down into easier, more helpful advice. So, my engineering knowledge is a secret ingredient in everything I do on Eleanor’s Dish!
Life’s thrown a lot of lessons my way, and I’ve picked up some wisdom along the ride. I wanted to share what I’ve learned, especially about growing and finding joy. I think strong relationships are a huge part of a happy life, whether it’s with friends, family, or ourselves. That’s why I started a podcast all about relationships. It’s a chill place to share stories, give and get advice, and even learn from experts. Both in life coaching and on the podcast, I want to pass on the insights life has taught me, helping others to get along better and spread more love and kindness.
