As someone on a weight loss journey, I’ve incorporated this apple cider vinegar cayenne pepper shot into my daily routine. It’s become a staple that I genuinely enjoy. 

If you are currently on a weight loss journey, you may have heard many people discussing this wellness shot and how it dramatically helps weight loss. 

Although I don’t necessarily believe it causes one to lose weight, it helps in other areas contributing to weight loss. 

This wellness shot has truly revolutionized my wellness routine, leading to significant changes in my weight loss journey. I’m excited to share my recipe with you, hoping it can bring similar benefits to your life.

Apple cider vinegar: Opt for the type with the mother, as it’s rich in probiotics that support a healthy gut, a key factor in weight management. 

Lemon: Since it’s a shot, you need just one small lemon. Ripe lemons are softer and will give you more juice. Therefore, look for entirely yellow lemons that are slightly soft to the touch.

Maple Syrup: I used maple syrup to give this wellness shot a pleasant taste because, without it, you will vomit (no kidding). I’ve tried it without the sweetness; it was nothing to write home about, so I recommend you don’t skip it. If you have a sweetener, like stevia or monk fruit, you can substitute it with that. 

Cayenne Pepper: This helps to bring the heat that aids in weight loss due to the presence of capsaicin. It’s one ingredient you do not want to skip.

Turmeric: I add Turmeric to my shot because it helps reduce inflammation a lot. Again, this is another ingredient you do not want to omit.

Water: For dilution.

How to make apple cider vinegar cayenne pepper shot

Making your apple cider vinegar cayenne pepper shot is easy and takes about 2 minutes to prep. However, it would be best to consider measurements when making this shot. 

I highly recommend not eyeballing it–especially apple cider vinegar. As a chemical engineer, I will warn you that apple cider vinegar is very acidic, so you want to ensure appropriate dilution when making this recipe. 

Follow these steps to ensure you get a great-tasting and refreshing shot. 

Step 1: Pour in your apple cider vinegar

Grab a small clean shot glass, and pour in 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with the mother.

Place half a lemon into a lemon squeezer and press the tool into the center of the lemon to extract the juice into the shot glass. Do the same for the other half. 

Step 2: Dilute the acid and sweeten the mixture

Pouring filtered water and organic maple syrup into a shot glass with apple cider vinegar for a sweetened detox drink.

Next, dilute the acid by adding a lot of water to the glass. This helps to increase the mixture’s pH, ensuring your shot isn’t too acidic. Now, add 1 to 2 tablespoons of maple syrup for sweetness. Adjust to your taste.

Step 3: Add the cayenne pepper and Turmeric

Lastly, add a dash of cayenne pepper and Turmeric to the mixture. Try not to go overboard with the quantity. ⅛ of a teaspoon should be more than enough.

Stir everything together with a small spoon until the ingredients blend smoothly and the spices are completely dissolved.

For one, it helps improve digestive health and metabolism, which is great if you’re trying to lose weight. 

Since it is acidic, it increases the acidic levels in your stomach, which, in turn, helps with the digestion of food. 

Moreover, if you want to regulate your blood sugar levels, several studies suggest that drinking apple cider vinegar can help improve insulin sensitivity and lower blood sugar spikes during meals. 

Lastly, taking apple cider vinegar may also help your skin health. In fact, some evidence shows that ACV can help balance our skin’s pH levels. 

All in all, you can’t go wrong with apple cider vinegar.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar - with the mother
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice - juice of one small lemon
  • 8 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup - adjust to taste
  • tsp Cayenne pepper - a dash of cayenne
  • tsp Turmeric - a dash of tumeric

Instructions

  • Carefully measure two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and pour it into a shot glass.
  • Cut a fresh lemon in half and squeeze about two tablespoon of juice into the shot glass with the apple cider vinegar.
  • Pour four tablespoons of filtered water into the glass to dilute the mixture slightly. Add a tablespoon of maple syrup to balance the flavors with a touch of sweetness.
  • Add a pinch of cayenne pepper and turmeric to the mixture in the shot glass.
  • Use a small spoon to thoroughly mix all the ingredients together until fully combined. Make sure the spices are well dissolved.
  • Immediately drink the wellness shot. It's recommended to take this shot in the early morning or before meals.
