This Blueberry Iced Tea Will Be Your Go-To Summer Drink

This blueberry iced tea is the perfect refreshing summer drink. You can make it with fresh blueberries or use blueberry juice for a quick and easy version. Light, fruity, and so simple to make.

There’s just something about a cold drink on a warm day that instantly makes everything feel better… and this blueberry iced tea is exactly that kind of drink.

It’s refreshing, slightly sweet, and has that subtle fruity flavor that makes it feel a little more special than your regular iced tea.

The best part is you can make it as simple or as homemade as you want.

If you’re in the mood to go all in, you can simmer fresh blueberries and create your own blueberry base.

But if you want something quick and easy… you can absolutely use blueberry juice instead. No stress, no extra steps.

Either way, this blueberry iced tea comes out so good.

And once you make it once, it’s probably going to become one of those drinks you keep coming back to.

Why This Blueberry Iced Tea Just Works

  • It’s naturally refreshing and not overly sweet
  • You can make it from scratch or use blueberry juice for convenience
  • It feels elevated but is actually super simple
  • Perfect for summer, hosting, or just a slow afternoon
  • Easy to customize depending on your taste

What You’ll Need for Blueberry Iced Tea

Blueberries: Fresh or frozen both work… this is what gives the tea its flavor if you’re making it from scratch.

Water: Used to simmer the blueberries and brew the tea.

Black tea bags: Adds that classic iced tea base (you can swap for green tea if you want something lighter).

Honey or sugar: Adds a touch of sweetness… adjust based on your preference.

Lemon juice: Brightens everything up and balances the flavor

Cold water: Helps dilute and chill the tea.

Ice cubes: Because iced tea should always be extra cold.

Fresh mint (optional): Or you can use lemon as a garnish.

If you’re using blueberry juice instead:

Blueberry juice: Use about 1 to 1.5 cups and skip the simmering step.

How to Make Blueberry Iced Tea

Step 1: Make the blueberry base (or skip this if using juice)

If you’re making this from scratch, add your blueberries and water to a saucepan and bring it to a gentle boil.

Let it simmer for about 8 to 10 minutes until the blueberries start breaking down. Then lightly mash them to release even more flavor.

If you’re using blueberry juice instead, you can skip this entire step and move right into brewing your tea.

Step 2: Brew the tea

brewing the tea

While the mixture is still hot, add your tea bags and let them steep for about 5 minutes.

This step gives you that classic iced tea flavor that balances perfectly with the blueberries.

Step 3: Strain and sweeten

Remove the tea bags, then strain the mixture into a pitcher to remove the blueberry solids.

While it’s still warm, stir in your honey or sugar so it dissolves easily.

Step 4: Add lemon and cold water

Pour in the lemon juice and cold water, then mix everything together.

If you’re using blueberry juice, this is where you’ll add it in.

Step 5: Chill and serve

Let the tea cool, then place it in the fridge for at least an hour.

Serve over ice and add fresh mint if you want that extra touch.

Variations for Blueberry Iced Tea

  1. Add sliced lemons or oranges for a citrus twist.
  2. Swap black tea for green tea for a different flavor.
  3. Add sparkling water for a fizzy version.
  4. Mix in a little peach juice for a blueberry peach iced tea moment.
  5. Use maple syrup instead of sugar for a deeper sweetness.

Tips for the Best Blueberry Iced Tea

One thing I’ve learned is that simple drinks like this really come down to balance.

If your tea tastes too strong, just add a little more water.

If it’s not sweet enough, adjust the sweetener slowly until it feels right.

And if you’re short on time, using blueberry juice is honestly such a good shortcut.

It still gives you that fruity flavor without the extra step, which makes this recipe even easier to throw together on busy days.
