I prepare this frozen oven baked salmon at least three times a week because it’s my husband’s favorite fish dish, and I love satisfying his cravings.

If you have frozen salmon fillets in your freezer and need a quick way to prepare them without waiting for them to thaw or cooking them on the stovetop, this recipe is perfect for you.

With just 20 minutes in the oven, you’ll have a delicious meal ready to go. Plus, the sweet and spicy sauce, which takes less than 5 minutes to whip up, adds incredible flavor.

In total, you can have this mouthwatering frozen oven baked salmon dish ready in under 30 minutes. It’s a win-win! Here are the ingredients you’ll need:

Frozen salmon: I used the farm-raised Atlantic salmon fillets sold at whole foods, which is a favorite in our household. However, feel free to use your salmon of choice.

Coconut aminos: This is my favorite substitute for soy sauce. I realized recently that my body doesn’t really like soy, so making the switch to coconut aminos has been great. It’s low in sodium and it adds a great taste to many dishes that require soy sauce. 

Diced chipotle peppers: You will need diced chipotle peppers to give the sauce a bit of a sweet/spicy kick. I promise this makes a huge difference, so don’t skip it. 

Chili garlic sauce: I’ve been using chili garlic sauce a lot lately if you haven’t noticed from my recent recipe posts. I love it for the tangy flavor it adds to dishes. You can make yours at home (which I recommend to reduce the sugar and added preservatives), or you can purchase it pre-made at your local grocery store.

Salt: To taste. I use less salt when cooking salmon since it is a salty fish. 

Black pepper: Also to taste, and to add a nice flavor to the overall dish. 

Cinnamon: These days I prepare almost all my dishes with cinnamon because of the many health benefits of cinnamon. However, in this dish, it adds a nice sweetness to the dish that I just love. If you don’t want to use cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice is a great alternative.

Stevia: For some essential sweetness. You can also substitute with honey or maple syrup. But I use stevia so that it won’t be calorically dense. Make sure you don’t use too much sweetener. 

Paprika: This adds some smokiness to the sauce which I can guarantee you will appreciate. 

How to make oven baked salmon

This recipe is so quick and easy, you will be done in no time. Make sure to follow these steps to achieve a great tasting frozen oven baked salmon.

Step 1: Prepare the salmon sauce

In a small bowl combine coconut aminos, chili garlic sauce, diced chipotle peppers, salt, black pepper, paprika, stevia and cinnamon.

Step 2: Add sauce to salmon fillets

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the salmon fillets on it. Generously spoon the sauce over the fillets, ensuring each piece is thoroughly coated.

Step 3: Bake in the oven

Bake the salmon in a preheated oven at 400°F for 20-25 minutes, or until the inside is tender and flakes easily with a fork.

Serving your frozen oven baked salmon

This oven baked salmon can be eaten with pretty much anything as a main dish or a side dish. You can eat it with chopped vegetable salads, coconut rice, green beans or a cabbage stir fry.

The possibilities are endless making it a nice dish to bring to a thanksgiving gathering or a dinner party.

How to store

This frozen oven baked salmon recipe is best eaten fresh. However, if you do have left overs, here’s what I recommend: 

Refrigeration: Place the cooked salmon in an airtight glass container or wrap it tightly in aluminum foil or plastic wrap. Store it in the refrigerator, where it will stay fresh for up to 4 days.

Freezing: For longer storage, you can freeze the salmon. Wrap each fillet individually in plastic wrap or aluminum foil, then place them in a resealable freezer bag. Label the bag with the date, and store the salmon in the freezer for up to 1 month.

Reheating: When you’re ready to enjoy your salmon again, reheat it gently to preserve its moisture and flavor. You can reheat it in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 10-15 minutes, or until heated through. 

Alternatively, you can reheat it in the microwave on a low setting, using short intervals to avoid overcooking.
