I woke up this morning craving something unique. I had some chia pudding and yogurt in my fridge, as well as some papaya in my pantry, and the best idea came to mind: why not make a papaya and yogurt parfait?
Usually, I prepare my parfait with strawberries or blueberries. But with papaya at its peak season, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to experiment with this delicious fruit.

So, if you have some papaya sitting around at home, or you happened to spot a ripe bunch at the grocery store and are wondering what to create with them, this recipe is just what you need.

Ingredients for Papaya and Yogurt Parfait
Papaya: You will need ripe papaya. You will also need to peel, remove the seed, and dice the papaya.

Yogurt: This recipe works well with any yogurt. Feel free to use coconut yogurt if you’re plant-based or Greek yogurt if you don’t mind some dairy. However, I advise you to look for yogurt with little to no added sugar and clean ingredients.
Milk: We will use the milk to make the chia pudding. I typically use unsweetened almond milk or cashew milk, but feel free to use your preferred milk.
Vanilla extract: This gives the papaya and yogurt parfait some extra flavor that you will love. Trust me.
Granola: I love to add granola to mine for that extra crunchy texture. You can add your favorite kind of granola. If you aren’t a fan of granola, feel free to substitute it with mixed nuts.
Chia seeds: To make the chia pudding. I love to add chia seeds for some additional protein, fiber, and omega-3 in my parfait.

Maple syrup or honey: These add some extra sweetness to the yogurt, which I promise you will be thankful for. Feel free to add as much or as little as you like.
Shredded coconut: I love to use this as a topping to add some extra crunch and flavor to the parfait.
How to Make Papaya and Yogurt Parfait
This simple dish comes together in minutes, so no need to worry about spending all day in the kitchen. However, you will need to exercise some patience for the chia pudding.
Follow these steps to get a great-tasting papaya and yogurt parfait.
Step 1: Prepare the Chia Pudding

In a bowl, mix the chia seeds, milk, vanilla extract, honey, or maple syrup. Stir well until the chia seeds are evenly distributed.
Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight until the chia seeds have absorbed the liquid and formed a pudding-like consistency.
Step 2: Layer the Parfait

Begin by placing a few spoonfuls of chia pudding at the bottom of each serving glass or jar. Next, add a layer of Greek yogurt over the chia pudding, followed by a layer of diced papaya. Finally, sprinkle a tablespoon of granola on top of the papaya layer.
If your glasses or bowls are deep enough, repeat the layers–chia pudding, yogurt, and papaya–until you reach the top.
Step 3: Top and Serve your papaya and yogurt parfait

Sprinkle coconut flakes and some granola on top of the parfait for some added crunch. Serve immediately to enjoy the crunchiness of the granola, or refrigerate for up to an hour if you prefer a slightly softer texture.
Health Benefits of Eating Papaya
Since this recipe features papaya, I thought it would be a good idea to highlight some of its amazing health benefits.

I’ve noticed that many people, especially here in the U.S., don’t eat papaya as often as they do other fruits like mango or strawberries.
But once you learn about the health perks, you might just find yourself reaching for papaya a lot more often!
Papaya is packed with nutrients that can do wonders for your body. It’s rich in vitamin C, which supports your immune system and helps keep your skin glowing. It also contains papain, a powerful enzyme that helps with digestion and bloating.
Plus, it’s loaded with antioxidants like beta-carotene, which are great for eye health and may even reduce the risk of chronic diseases.
One benefit I particularly love about this fruit is its high fiber content, which keeps you feeling full longer—perfect if you’re trying to shed some extra pounds this season.
So, next time you’re at the grocery store, consider picking up a papaya and incorporating it into more of your meals. Your body will thank you!

Expert Tips for a Great-Tasting Chia Pudding Papaya and Yogurt Parfait
Get the Right Chia Pudding Consistency: For a creamy chia pudding, stir the chia seeds thoroughly when you first mix them with the milk. Let the mixture sit for a few minutes, then stir again to prevent clumping. I highly recommend refrigerating it for at least 4 hours or overnight for the best texture.
Choose Ripe Papaya: The sweetness of your parfait depends a lot on the papaya. Select a ripe papaya that’s slightly soft to the touch and has a vibrant orange color. That’s how you get the sweetest and most flavorful fruit.
Customize Your Sweetness: If you prefer a sweeter parfait, mix a little honey or maple syrup into your chia pudding or yogurt before assembling. You can also drizzle a bit on top just before serving.
Add Some Crunch: Don’t skip the granola! It adds a nice crunch that contrasts perfectly with the pudding and yogurt. For extra flavor, use a granola that includes raisins, nuts, or seeds.
Garnish for Freshness: A sprig of fresh mint on top of your parfait not only looks lovely but also adds a nice touch that enhances the overall flavor. If you’re feeling adventurous, sprinkle some shredded coconut or a dash of cinnamon for an extra flavor boost.
Serve Chilled: For the best taste, make sure your parfait is nicely chilled before serving. This dish tastes so good when served cold, making it perfect for a healthy breakfast or a light dessert.
