The Best Vanilla Milk Tea You Can Make at Home

This vanilla milk tea is smooth, creamy, and so easy to make at home. Made with black tea, milk, vanilla, and a little sweetness, it’s the perfect cozy drink for any time of day.

There’s something about a good vanilla milk tea that just hits.

Whenever I go to my local grocery store, I make sure to stock up.

However, today, I wasn’t in the mood to make the drive and decided to make some at home instead.

This vanilla milk tea is smooth, creamy, lightly sweet, and feels like something you’d order from a café, except you can make it at home in about 10 minutes.

I like this recipe because it’s simple but still feels a little special.

The vanilla gives it that soft, cozy flavor that makes regular milk tea taste better without needing anything complicated.

It’s perfect for when you want something warm, but it’s also really good poured over ice.

If you’ve been looking for an easy vanilla milk tea recipe, this is the one to make.

  1. It’s easy to make. You only need a few simple ingredients.
  2. It tastes cozy and a little elevated. The vanilla makes a big difference.
  3. You can make it hot or iced. Both versions work really well.
  4. It’s easy to adjust. You can make it sweeter, creamier, or stronger depending on what you like.

Ingredients For Vanilla Milk Tea

Water: You will need hot water to brew the tea.

Black tea: Use one black tea bag, or about one teaspoon of loose black tea.

Milk: Any milk works here. I used almond milk for this recipe.

Sugar: Use one to two teaspoons, depending on how sweet you want it. You can substitute with sweetener like stevia or monkfruit if you prefer. You can also use honey or maple syrup.

Vanilla extract: You just need about half a teaspoon.

Optional: Ice for an iced version. I prefer to just refrigerate mine, as ice can sometimes water down the tea. But feel free to use ice if you need your tea to get colder faster.

How to Make Vanilla Milk Tea

Step 1: Brew the tea

Step 1: Brew the tea

Bring the water to a boil in a small saucepan or kettle.

Add the tea bag and let it steep for 3 to 5 minutes, depending on how strong you like your tea.

Remove the tea bag once it’s done steeping.

Step 2: Add the sweetness and vanilla

Step 2: Add the sweetness and vanilla

While the tea is still warm, stir in the sugar and vanilla extract.

This helps the sugar dissolve easily and gives the tea that smooth vanilla flavor.

Step 3: Add the milk

Step 3: Add the milk

Pour in the milk and stir until everything is well combined.

Taste and adjust the sweetness if needed.

Step 4: Serve

Serve the vanilla milk tea warm, or pour it over ice if you want an iced version.

Tips for the Best Vanilla Milk Black Tea

If you want a creamier drink, warm the milk separately and froth it before adding it to the tea.

If you want a stronger vanilla milk black tea, let the tea steep a little longer.

If you’re using honey or maple syrup instead of sugar, stir it in while the tea is still hot so it mixes in smoothly.

Ways to Customize Your Tea

You can use oat milk if you want it extra creamy, almond milk if you want something lighter, or whole milk if you want a richer drink.

You can also make it sweeter if you want more of a treat, or keep it lightly sweet if you want the tea flavor to stand out more.

And if you’re making it iced, brewing the tea a little stronger helps the flavor come through better once the ice melts.

Vanilla Milk Black Tea Variation

If you want more of a true vanilla milk black tea flavor, use a strong black tea and let it steep closer to 5 minutes.

That gives the drink a bolder tea base, which works really well with the vanilla and milk.

What to Serve With It

This vanilla milk tea is really good on its own, but it also goes well with light breakfast recipes, muffins, loaf cakes, or simple toast in the morning.

I prefer this recipe. The others were bubble tea which isn’t my favorite and takes long to make. This recipe I will keep
