If you’ve ever tried to follow those simple beauty routines on youtube… you already know the problem.
They look cute in theory, but in real life? You’re not doing 12 steps before work.
You’re not layering 6 serums. And you’re definitely not waking up earlier just to contour your face.
I’ve been there (especially during those years before I stopped wearing makeup)… trying to “keep up” with complicated routines and just ending up skipping everything because it felt like too much.
So I stopped.
And instead, I built myself a simple beauty routine that I can actually stick to.
Something quick, easy, and realistic… but still makes me feel put together every single day.
This is the exact routine I follow. Nothing extra. Nothing overwhelming. Just what works.
What Is a Simple Beauty Routine?
A simple beauty routine is a small set of steps you can do daily without overthinking it.
It’s not about doing more… but rather, doing what ACTUALLY makes a difference.
Clean skin. Hydration. A little glow. Done!!
And the reason this works so well is the same reason simple routines in general work… consistency beats complexity every time .
When your routine is easy, you actually do it.
My Exact Simple Beauty Routine (Morning + Night)
This is the routine I follow most days. It takes about 5 to 10 minutes depending on how slow I’m moving.
My Morning Simple Beauty Routine
Mornings don’t need to be complicated. You’re just trying to wake up your face and look fresh.
Step 1: Cleanse (or Just Rinse)

In the morning, I keep this super chill.
Sometimes I use my cerave facial cleanser (which is a gentle cleanser)… sometimes I will go in with panoxyl if I’m trying to treat any acne.
You don’t need to overdo it here. The goal is just to start fresh.
Step 2: Moisturize

This step is non-negotiable for me.
A lightweight moisturizer instantly makes your skin look smoother and more awake. It also helps your makeup sit better if you’re wearing any.
I go back and forth between my vanicream moisturizer or the Dr Althea 345 barrier moisturizer.
If your skin ever looks dull, it’s usually just dehydrated… this step fixes that fast.
Step 3: SPF (Don’t Skip This)

I used to skip sunscreen… and now I don’t.
Even on cloudy days.
I also make sure to stack up with as many as I can and I try to keep one in every purse I own just in case.
It protects your skin long-term and honestly just makes your routine feel complete. I go for something lightweight so it doesn’t feel heavy or greasy.
Step 4: Quick Glow Makeup (Optional but Worth It)

This is where the “put together” look happens… and it takes like 2 minutes.
I don’t do a full face. I just pick a few things:
- A little concealer if needed
- Cream blush for color
- Brow gel to shape my face
- Lip balm or gloss
That’s it.
You don’t need more than this. This is what gives that effortless, clean look.
And on days when I really don’t feel like doing anything, I just follow my 5 minute beauty routine checklist so I don’t have to think at all.
It’s honestly saved me on so many busy mornings.
Night Simple Beauty Routine
Nighttime is less about looking good… and more about resetting your skin.
Step 1: Cleanse Properly

At night, I actually cleanse my skin for real. And I go an extra step, using my prescription clindamycin pads.
This is where everything comes off… makeup, sunscreen, dirt from the day.
If you wear makeup, you can double cleanse. If not, one good cleanse is enough.
This step is what keeps your skin clear over time.
Step 2: Moisturize Again
Same as morning… but sometimes I go a little heavier at night.
Your skin repairs itself while you sleep, so this step helps support that.
You don’t need anything fancy. Just something that keeps your skin soft and hydrated.
Step 3: One Extra Step (Optional)

This is where you can add something small if you want.
Not a full routine… just one thing.
Maybe a serum. Maybe lip care. Maybe under-eye cream.
But keep it simple.
I’m currently on prescription tretinoin, so sometimes I will add that or another product I’m using to target a problem area.
The goal isn’t to do everything… it’s just to give your skin a little extra when you feel like it.
Why This Simple Beauty Routine Actually Works
This routine works because it’s realistic.
You’re not relying on motivation. You’re not trying to be perfect. You’re just doing a few things consistently.
And that’s what actually creates results.
How to Make This Routine Even Easier
If you’re someone who struggles to stay consistent, make this as easy as possible.
Keep your products in one place. Don’t overbuy. Don’t try new things every week.
And most importantly… remove decision-making.
That’s why having this 5 minute beauty routine checklist is so helpful.
It gives you a default routine for those days when you’re tired, busy, or just not in the mood.
You’re not thinking… you’re just following.
Simple Beauty Routine for Busy Days
Let’s be real… some days are chaos.
On those days, this is all you need:
- Cleanse or rinse
- Moisturize
- SPF
- Lip balm
That’s your bare minimum.
And honestly… even that is enough to feel fresh and put together.
